METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYMER OF MONOMER HAVING ETHYLENIC DOUBLE BOND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the polymer of a monomer having an ethylenic double bond, by which a time for forming the coating film of a scale- preventing agent or the like can be shortened to enhance productivity and improve an effect for preventing the adhesion of polymer scales, thereby enabling the reduction in the contamination of the polymer product with colored scales and the improvement in the qualities of the polymer and its processed products. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polymer of a monomer having an ethylenic double bond comprises polymerizing the monomer having the ethylenic double bond in a polymerizer which has coating films for preventing the adhesion of polymer scales on the surfaces such as inner walls. The coating films are formed by coating a coating liquid by the use of steam as a carrier. The coating liquid contains (A) a compound selected from the group consisting of aromatic compounds each having five or more conjugated π-bonds and heterocyclic compounds each having five or more conjugated π-bonds, and (B) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of inorganic colloids, chelating agents, metal compounds each producing a metal ion which can form complexes having two or more ligands, respectively, and acids.
