Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as a reactive flame-retardant for thermosetting resins, or the like, simply in a high yield by using an elemental yellow phosphorus as a starting raw material. SOLUTION: Elemental yellow phosphorus is reacted with an alkylating agent (preferably an alkyl halide, a dialkyl sulfate, or the like, especially preferably methyl chloride, methyl bromide and/or dimethyl sulfate) in the presence of a base (preferably a hydroxide, a carbonate, or the like) to give a mixture comprising (A) an alkylphosphonous acid, (B) phosphorous acid and (C) phosphinic acid as main components. Then the main components of the mixture are esterified to give an ester mixture, from which the ester of the component A is separated. The obtained ester of the component A is added to a functional group-containing olefin to give a phosphinic acid ester. The obtained phosphinic acid ester can be used as a reactive flame-retardant for polymers such as a thermoplastic polymer. |
