METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREDICTING FIBER ORIENTATION CHARACTERISTICS OF PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for separately predicting fiber orientation characteristics of the front and back of paper to be made in papermaking. SOLUTION: In an on-top former type paper machine, parameter A regarding speed difference between pulp raw material speed when extruded from a head box on a bottom wire and bottom wire speed and parameter B regarding speed difference between pulp raw material speed when fed into a top wire unit and top wire speed are calculated by detecting their speeds, and fiber orientation characteristics of bottom wire surface of paper corresponding to the parameter A and fiber orientation characteristics of top wire surface of paper corresponding to the parameter B are predicted using e.g. relational expression between previously found parameters and fiber orientation characteristics.
