Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonwoven fabric having excellent flexibility and mechanical strength despite being biodegradable, and widely usable as a base material for sanitary/medical goods and clothing, domestic or industrial base material, agricultural material or the like, and to provide a method for producing such a biodegradable nonwoven fabric. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric is such as to be made from continuous filament yarns of a biodegradable thermoplastic aliphatic polyester resin and provided with thermofused areas; wherein each of the continuous filament yarns has a fineness of 1-5 denier, initial modulus of 6-30 g/d and tensile tenacity of 2.5-4 g/d. The nonwoven fabric is produced by the following process: the thermoplastic aliphatic polyester resin is melted by heating to a temperature 30-70 deg.C higher than the melting point, and extruded and spun at 0.5-1.2 g/min/ hole (spinneret hole) through the many spinneret holes of an extrusion spinning unit, the resultant group of continuous filaments are drawn through an ejector by high-speed, high-pressure air, and collected/accumulated on a substrate to form a web, which is then heat-embossed to provide thermofused areas.
