MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR BATTERY INSTALLATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a maintenance and inspection system, which makes deterioration diagnosis of a battery installation, particularly, a cathode absorption sealed stationary lead storage battery installation sure and easier. SOLUTION: While a battery installation 1 is trickle charged with a battery charger 2 or power supply is made from the installation 1 to a load 4 through a switch 3, adjacent battery cells at the same potential position in groups 1 and 2 are connected to each other, respectively through short-circuiting conductors 51-53 and the unbalanced currents flowing through the conductors 51-53 are measured by means of clamp sections 6A and a current measuring section 6B. When an unbalanced current exists in one of the conductors 51-53, an output section 7 discriminates an increase of the internal resistance in one of the adjacent battery cells connected to each other, through the conductor and specifies the adjacent battery cells having the increased internal resistance from the polarity of the unbalanced current. Then the output section 7 displays and outputs the specified battery cells.
