Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling a valve seat sub-assembly and the valve seat sub-assembly which has improved the consistency in axial direction and in which thermal strain related to resistance welding is avoided by using laser welding. SOLUTION: A solenoid operated fuel injector comprises a valve needle having its axis in longitudinal direction. A valve seat sub-assembly is installed at one end of the valve needle. The valve seat sub-assembly comprises a valve seat 24 having a seating surface 26 and a peripheral sealing surface 28 surrounding the seating surface. The valve seat sub-assembly has a lower needle guide 44 and a vortex-flow disc 50 welded to the valve seat. The valve seat sub-assembly has a radially extending flange 29.
