DETERGENT COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition preferable for cleaning a surface of a rigid material by compounding in a certain ratio a nonionic surfactant selected from esters of a straight-chain saturated aliphatic acid of a specific carbon number and sucrose, a solvent selected from a monohydric alcohol which has a vapor pressure of at least a certain value, and polyphenols. SOLUTION: A detergent composition comprises compounding 0.1-5 wt.% of a nonionic surfactant selected from mono-, di- and triesters of a 8-18C straight-chain saturated aliphatic acid and sucrose, 30-40 wt.% of a solvent selected from a monohydric alcohol which has a vapor pressure of at least 30 mmHg (20 deg.C), and 0.01-0.5 wt.% of polyphenols. As the monohydric alcohol is the most preferable ethyl alcohol. As the polyphenol is used an astringent persimmon tannin containing a polyphenol of 0.1-100%, an apple polyphenol, a eucalyptus polyphenol or the like. The detergent composition is obtained which is excellent in detergency, resin staining, residual properties, strength of taking odor off, stability, safety for fire and safety for a human body.
