PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a video image without causing a sense of incongruity to a viewer even when a required time of video reproduction is changed, by reproducing the video image within a predetermined required time on the basis of a video database, multimedia data and attribute recording. SOLUTION: When an operator enters a total required input time to a required time input section of a video reproduction menu and depresses an enter button in the case of reproducing a video image, a video image entire reproduction time management section 105 starts its processing. Then a video reproduction total time, a maximum reproduction available total time, and a minimum reproduction available total time are calculated from the required time of each basic image acquired by a video image generating section 100. Then whether or not the entered total required time is within a range of the maximum reproduction available total time and the minimum reproduction available total time is discriminated and when the total required time is at the outside of the range, a message is displayed for the operator. On the other hand, the total required time is within the range, the time is compared with an existing standard time and whether a difference is larger or smaller than 0 is discriminated. When the difference is smaller than 0, a time extension processing is executed and when the difference is larger than 0, a time reduction processing is executed.
