Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkylphosphonous acid (metal) salt easily, uniformly and in high yield. SOLUTION: This method comprises reacting elemental yellow phosphorus with a halogen-free alkylating agent in the presence of at least one base; wherein it is preferable that the reaction is carried out in a two-phase system comprising the above base(s) and an organic solvent, and the alkylating agent is a dialkyl sulfate, trialkyl phosphate, dialkyl carbonate and/or formic orthoester.
