ACCELERATOR FOR RECOVERING SKIN BARRIER FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject accelerator capable of recovering reduced skin barrier function remarkably in a short time by containing phytosterol. SOLUTION: This accelertor for recovering skin barrier function contains phytosterol. Phytosterol is a mixture of plant originated sterols and mainly contains β-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, etc. To accelerate recovering of skin barrier function means to have an accelerating effect in a TEWL recovery factor with a clearly significant difference when TEWL values at every measuring time are compared with the value without any treatment by bringing the TEWL value after 1 hour of tape stripping of the skin to be 0% and the value before the tape stripping to be 100%. The accelerator can be added to cosmetics, medicines and quasi-drug baes. The amount to be added is preferably 0.1-20 wt.% in the whole amount of the aforesaid cosmetic and the like.
