PACKAGING ASSEMBLY FOR PHOTON DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a fiber pig-tail and moreover to suitably execute optical connection. SOLUTION: A photon device 12 inside a packaging assembly 10 is attached to the inside of the cavity 14 of a housing 16 and moreover is optically matched to the fibrous end 18 of a fiber 20. A fibrous ferrule 24 is positioned inside the hole 28 extending through the outside wall 30 of the housing 16 so as to extend outside from the housing 16. The ferrule 24 is soldered to the housing 16 in a sealed state. A shut off connector 40 is attached to the housing 16 in the position where the fibrous ferrule 24 partially extends inside the hole 60 extending through the inside of the connector 40. An optical connector 64 is attached to the connector 40 so that the fiber 68 extending from the optical connector 64 is inserted into the hole 60 and moreover is matched to the fibrous ferrule 24.
