Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new enzymic RNA molecule having an activity for specifically cleaving a specific base sequence of a hepatitis C virus or the like or a genomic RNA or an mRNA or an hnRNA encoded by the virus and useful as an inhibitor of replication, infection and genetic expression of a virus. SOLUTION: This new enzymic RNA molecule has an activity for specifically cleaving a base sequence such as formulae I to III of a hepatitis C virus or a genomic RNA or an mRNA or an hnRNA encoded with the virus and is useful as an inhibitor, etc., of replication, infection and genetic expression of a virus for treatment of viral infection with picornavirus, HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, papillomavirus, EBV, HTLV-I, HCV, CMV or influenza virus. The enzymic RNA molecule is obtained by selecting a sequence formed of a motif of a hammerhead having a specific substrate binding site complementary to a target viral gene RNA region.
