DEVICE AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING PAPER SHEETS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money identifying device with a high identification ability. SOLUTION: A paper money identifying device 10 has two photosensors 26 and 28 and two magnetic sensors 30 and 32 for measuring the feature amount of a paper money A conveyed on a carrier path. A comparing part 50 by areas divides the paper money A into plural areas, compares the feature amount of the paper money A measured by the sensors with the previously obtained feature amount of a paper money to be a comparison object for each of plural relevant divided areas and outputs the compared result. On the basis of the compared result for each area outputted from the comparing part 50 by areas, a judging part 52 identifies whether the denomination of the paper money A is the same as that of each paper money to be the comparison object or not.
