SOLUTION: After first copying is finished, the carrying of documents 120 is stopped once with their rear ends being held by a second carrying roller 108 and a carrying belt 110 without completely discharging the documents 120 to the outside. Then, the first and second carrying rollers 106, 108 and the carrying belt 110 are reversely rotated to carry the document 120 to an arrow mark D. Prior to the carrying, a switch member 202 is changed over for the documents 120 to be carried to a stand-by position instead of a document setting 12. In this way, the documents 120 are carried to the stand-by position and stood by there. Then, the first and second carrying rollers 106, 108, a third carrying roller 204 and the carrying belt 110 are positively rotated to carry the documents 120 to an arrow mark C, again so that an image reading part 20 can read an image.
