FLUORINE-CONTAINING COPOLYMER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject copolymer having excellent long-term water repellency and oil repellency and repeated stain removal, useful for a fluorine- based coating material, varnish, etc., by making the copolymer include specific amounts of a fluoroolefin and a specified organosilicon compound. SOLUTION: This copolymer comprises (A) 15-85 mol% of a fluoroolefin (e.g. vinylidene fluoride, etc.) and (B) 0.001-50 mol% of an organosilicon compound of formula I to formula IV (R1 to R3 are each H, methyl or the like; R4 is H or methyl; R5 is an ester, an ether or O; R6 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; R7 is H or methyl; R8 to R10 are each H, methyl or the like; n is 1-10; m is 0-160; p is 1-10) (e.g. vinylpentamethyldisiloxane, etc.). The copolymer may further contain a polymerization unit such as an alkyl vinyl ether. The copolymer can be produced by using a polymerization initiator by a solution polymerization method, etc.
