ICE BREAKER AND STEERING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice breaker and a steering method therefor capable of breaking ice effectively when snow is accumulated on ice floe. SOLUTION: A water storage tank 12 provided at a position higher than a draft line 17 and a water discharge port 13 for discharging water 12a stored in the water storage tank are provided, and the water discharge port is arranged in a bottom part of a bow part and at a position higher than the draft line by a predetermined distance. Furthermore, the form of the water discharge port is like slit and is arranged on a line at least in one direction among the direction of ship width and the direction of ship side. The water stored in the water storage tank 12 is discharged on ice floe 3 at one time in a process in which an ice breaker advances or retracts in ice sea.
