Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively producing a halogen-containing aromatic compound, especially the halogen-containing aromatic compound having a bromodifluoroalkyl group and obtain a halogen-containing naphthalene compound useful as a raw material for resins excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance, water repellency, low dielectric properties and a low index of refractiveness. SOLUTION: In a method for producing an aromatic compound having (CH2)nCX2Br group [X expresses a fluorine or chlorine atom and is either same or different, (n) expresses 0-4 integer] by optically brominating an aromatic compound having a (CH2)nCX2H group with a brominating agent, the optical bromination reaction is carried out by removing hydrogen bromide generated in the reaction system and/or in an atmosphere containing little oxygen. Here, a halogen-containing naphthalene compound is expressed by the formula [Y is CF2H, CF2Br or CHO, Z1 and Z2 are each independently a halogen, (p) and (q) are each independently 0-3 integer]. |
