PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the information recording medium which can precisely record a prepit signal position even during recording. SOLUTION: The information recording medium records at least some of prepits so that patterns in synchronous information are positioned adjacently and performs recording with multipulses based upon pulse strategy when one mark is formed at the time of information recording; when a pattern in the synchronous information which is much longer than a prepit is positioned adjacently to the prepit and the pattern forms a mark, for example, a pulse or space having a nearly constant amplitude is recorded instead not according to the pulse strategy and a prepit position signal can be detected with high precision even during the recording; and precise recording position control is enabled, and consequently a linking area where unnecessary data are recorded is reduced or made unnecessarily to effectively use a recording area.
