Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a start motor for preventing its interference with a peripheral auxiliary instruments at the mounting time to an engine by restraining the enlarging of the diameter direction size and improving a layout property. SOLUTION: A start motor 40 is arranged so that a commutator 15 is directed to a pinion 7 side and molded so as to form an arc shape recessed part in which the outer periphery wall surface of the diameter direction outside of the communitator 15 of a center bracket 42 is entered in the brush 17 and an electromagnetic switch 9, stored in the arc shape recessed part, is arranged to the diameter direction outside of the commutator 15 and planet speed reduction device 5 and its center axis is arranged in nearly parallel with a rotary shaft 14 and its one part is arranged so as to position to the more inside of the diameter direction than the outer periphery surface of the start motor 40.
