Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate unevenness of surface pressure of a holding mat member applied to a catalyst carrier, thereby preventing damages to the catalyst carrier and a scatter of the holding mat member for a manufacturing device for an exhaust gas converter surrounding the peripheral side surface of the catalyst carrier with the holding mat member, placing an outer shell formed from a flat plate on a peripheral side surface of the holding mat member, and holding the catalyst carrier inside the outer shell with the holding mat member. SOLUTION: The peripheral side surface of a monolithic catalyst 1 is wrapped over by a holding mat member 2. Then, the catalyst 1 is inserted into an outer shell 3 formed through a rolling process. Forces in a centripetal direction of the monolithic catalyst 1 are applied to embrace the outer shell 3 by surrounding and embracing almost the entire peripheral side surface of the outer shell 3 with bearing units 4.
