Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectangular battery capable of attaining the strength of an outer can without increasing the thickness and suppressing a bulge of the can even if a charging/discharging cycle progresses. SOLUTION: This rectangular battery stores an electrode group 1 in a metal can 4, and the electrode group 1 is alternately laminated with positive and negative electrodes through a separator. The battery has a partition plate 5 in the vertical direction of a wide side wall 2 of the metal can 4. The partition plate 5 is fixed to the inner surface of a pair of the wide side walls 2 of the metal can 4, and the wide side walls 2 are opposed each other. The laminated direction of the electrode group 1 is parallel to the partition plate 5.
