Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reversible photoisomerizable chiral compound capable of being subjected to absolute asymmetric synthesis without causing a decomposition reaction, useful for application to molecularphotostorage devices. SOLUTION: This reversible photoisomerizable chiral compound is an alicyclic compound which has an olefin bond as a part of ring constitution and contains a carbonyl group introduced to a nonconjugated transannular position and is photoisomerized to an E isomer by excitation of n-π* absorption of carbonyl group.
