Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of predicting plate speed in rolling which can predict the plate speed on the exit side of the rolling mill with high accuracy even in strong-reduction rolling of hard steel and sheet without requiring installation of a plate speed meter. SOLUTION: Flattened roll radius and a forward slip are calculated by the rolling theory with roll's flattened shape when rolling as circular arc, and the forward slip is corrected on the basis of the roll flatness ratio (flattened roll radius/roll radius), differently for the range of 1 or higher but not lower than a specified value and for the range of the specified value or higher but 20 or less.
