Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device which has little dependence on the viewing angle, eliminates changes in contrast, coloring phenomenon or reversed phenomenon, and gives high contrast without irregularity in the display. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device 2 has a liquid crystal layer 5, held between a pair of substrates and has pixels for display arranged in a matrix. In this case, alignment films 9, 11 are formed on the liquid crystal layer 5 side of the pair of substrates, and at least one of the alignment films has a means for aligning the liquid crystal layer in each pixel to have at least one concentric aligning direction, or a means for aligning the liquid crystal layer in each pixel to have at least three aligning directions.
