Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external heating rotary kiln equipped with a liner of ceramic material which can raise the coefficient of heat transmission by thinning the thickness, and is excellent in temperature controllability of substance to be processed, and becomes stable in view of construction, and is capable of enlargement. SOLUTION: For a liner 31, inward projecting pieces 32 are made in U-shape in cross section each integrally at both ends in circumferential direction, and the liner 31 is made of silicon carbide, and a hole 31a for a flush bolt 33 is bored in advance at the roughly center in plan view of the liner 31, and the main body 1' of a kiln consists of 6 mm thick stainless steel and several liners are adjacent to one another, and also the rear of the liner 31 is bonded with the inner peripheral face of the kiln body 1', and the flanks of the liners 31 are bonded with each other, and the projection pieces 32 are bonded with each other. Furthermore, the bolts 33 made of silicon carbide are passed through the holes 1a bores in series in the kiln body 1', with their heads projected, and are fixed into the holes 31a of the liners 31 by fastening them with nuts 35.
