Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal alignment of a liquid crystal and to prevent leaking of light in a liquid crystal panel by using fine particles each consisting of a base particle and a polymer having fluorophenyl groups deposited on the particle surface as a spacer for a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The fine particle consists of a base particle and a polymer deposited on the surface of the particle, and the polymer has fluorophenyl groups. The base particle is a plastic fine particle or silica fine particle. The fluorophenyl group has a structure of a benzene ring with 1 to 3 fluorine atoms directly added or adjacently connected, and for example, the groups are 2- monofluorophenyl group and 4-monofluoromethylphenyl group. The fine particles are prepared by polymerizing monomers having fluorophenyl groups and radical polymerizable groups to deposit the polymer having fluorophenyl groups on the surface of base particles. As for the monomers having radical polymerizable groups, compds. coupled with vinyl groups or (meth)acryloyl groups can be used.
