PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easier for a schoolchild in the lower grades to use a chair and a study desk of normal height by allowing the child to get on and off the chair while the chair is inside the desk. SOLUTION: A seat plate 2 is installed in such a way as to be freely longitudinally movable relative to right and left side frames 3. The side face of each of the right and left side frames 3 is formed in the shape of a recess relative to a line A connecting a step plate 5 to a backrest 4. Thus, with the seat plate 2 receded, a space B to allow a schoolchild C to move his or her body laterally forms between the side frames 3, the step plate 5 and a desk D, allowing the schoolchild C to get on and off the seat plate 2 even while a chair 1 is inside the desk D.
