METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PACKET TRANSFER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the distributed arrangement of packet transfer devices in a node and to facilitate transfer acceleration by identifying cells up to a prescribed cell before the first cell among cells received from one VC by the packet transfer devices as one packet to complete processing in unit of packet and after that making the packet a cell having a VC value allocated to the packet transferring devices to transmit it. SOLUTION: Packet transfer devices 3a and 3b identify cells from the first cell including the packet header made a cell to the preceding cell of the next first cell of a function cell whose VC=X is the same as that of the first cell and also which receives with the same source tag=Y1 or Y2 among cells received from one VC=X as one packet. And they perform routing of the packet. The results are reflected on a routing tag, a cell having a source tag=Ya or Yb allocated to the packet transferring devices and the VC=X is transmitted to an ATM switch 7 and the cell is subjected to routing.
