OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability of tracking control by compensating for offset of tracking error signal resulting from displacement of position from the center of optical pickup of an objective lens and variation of amplitude thereof. SOLUTION: The offset amount and amplitude value of the tracking error signal 101 for displacement from the center of optical pickup of an objective lens 8 are searched previously, and displacement of objective lens 8 is estimated with an objective lens deviation observer 19 based on a tracking calibration signal 104. Offset amount and amplitude value of tracking error signal 101 are detected respectively with an offset detecting means 17 and an amplitude detecting means 18, and the tracking error signal is compensated with an offset compensating circuit 22 and an amplitude compensating circuit 23 to set the offset amount and amplitude value of the tracking error signal 101 to the value equal to that when the displacement of objective lens 8 is zero, based on the offset amount and amplitude value searched previously.
