Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a sealing mechanism in which a fuel cell can be easily and rapidly assembled and uniform force and pressure distribution can be assured in an individual component. SOLUTION: In this sealing mechanism for large area thin type parts which are mutually connected for mutually sealing adjacent plates, especially plates equipped with an MEA in a fuel cell by using polymer material-made gaskets which are fitted in grooves and form an integral unit together with the respective attached plates, free space or clearance for receiving the elastic materials of a gasket 10 when the gasket 10 is compressively deformed is arranged between the side surface of the gasket 10 and the wall of a plate 3 opposed to the side surface, and under a free condition before the gasket 10 is compressively deformed, the gasket 10 partially fills a groove 43 or the clearance, and also the height H of the gasket 10 is formed larger than the depth T of the groove 43 or the clearance.
