OPTICAL FIBER ALIGNING AND FIXING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically conduct laser welding-fixing work to be linked consecutively after aligning work, and to prevent a shift of an optical axis from being generated. SOLUTION: In this optical fiber aligning and fixing device, a laser emitting head 54 for laser-welding a joining face of an optical holding body 11 and a joining face of an optical fiber holding body 13 is constituted to allow rotational movement around an axial center Zo by a motor 61 while directing its emitting axis toward the center Zo all the time, and the head 54 is constituted to allow movement in both a direction orthogonal to the center Zo and a horizontal direction respectively by an R-axis stage 64 and a Z-axis stage 66. The both holding bodies 11, 13 are welded in held conditions by chucks 41, 48, and a laser irradiating position is corrected to correspond to a position (tilt) of the joining face, and welding failure is prevented thereby.
