Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radial air bearing which lessens the whirling during rotation of a rotating body and has excellent durability performance of rotation and stoppage by locating part of the dynamic pressure generating part of the radial air bearing within a region in the thickness direction of a rotary polyhedral mirror. SOLUTION: The rotary polyhedral mirror 110 is positioned to a flange member 126 supporting a roller magnet 124 and is pressed and fixed to the flange member 126 by a retaining member 127. The flange member 126 has a flange surface 114 for supporting the rear surface of the rotary polyhedral mirror 110 and an annular part 115 and cylindrical part 116 projecting in the central hole of the rotary polyhedral mirror 110. The inside surface of the annular part 115 is fixed by shrinkage fitting or adhesion by the fitting margin to the revolving shaft 122. The bore of the cylindrical part 116 of the flange member 126 is made larger than the outside diameter of a stationary sleeve 128 and the stationary sleeve 128 is passed into the central hole of the rotary polyhedral mirror 110. Namely, the constitution in which part of the dynamic pressure generating part 134 of the radial air bearing exists within the range in the thickness direction of the rotary polyhedral mirror 110 is adopted.
