Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install a generator and an engine to the higher areas within a ship without deteriorating stability of ship by driving the engine with the particular frequency higher than the standard AC frequency to increase the power density and reduce the weight. SOLUTION: A generator 12 is driven with a turbine type engine 11 to generate a high frequency power, for example, the AC power of 240 Hz, and this power is supplied to a power distribution system via a switch 14 through direct connection. The engine 11 is selected depending on the application drive velocity thereof providing the number of poles required for generating a high frequency output of 240 Hz in view of obtaining the engine-generator package which results in the maximum power density. For propelling a ship, 240 Hz is converted to the predetermined ship propelling motor frequency with a frequency converter. Therefore, a propelling motor can be connected in direct with a screw shaft having the fixed pitch screw. Moreover, for the common electrical power within the ship, 240 Hz is converted to the predetermined common power distribution system frequency using a frequency converter. |
