Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antifungal agent having high safety against human body, and useful for controlling fungi growing on clothes, foods, housings or the like by compounding a tea component as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: An antifungal agent containing a tea component as an active ingredient. The tea component preferably contains tea saponin and/or tea polyphenol obtained from tea as an active ingredient. Further, the tea saponin is preferably a saponin obtained from tee seeds or tee leaves, and the tee polyphenol is preferably at least one substance selected from epigallocatechin gallate, epigallocatechin, epicatechin gallate, epicatechin, catechin and their isomers. The tee saponin and the tee polyphenol can be used singly or in combination, or can be used in combination with another antimicrobial agent. Further, this agent can be used by impregnating a material with it or applying it on a material as an antimicrobial agent for fiber, leather, building material, plastic film or paper pulp.
