Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical pickup device which uses a semiconductor laser with a diffraction grating, restrains height and width sizes from being increased, made small and thin, ensures a sufficient mounting space on a circuit board and prevents an increase in the cost. SOLUTION: A light receiving element which comprises a semiconductor laser with a diffraction grating is mounted on a first circuit board. An electronic component 7, an electronic component 8 and the like which are used to adjust the output of the semiconductor laser are mounted on a second circuit board 9. The first circuit board and the second circuit board 9 are connected electrically by a flexible printed circuit board 10. The first circuit board is held so as to be rotatable by one end face of a pickup body 2 by using a presser bar plate spring 11. The second circuit board 9 is fixed to a mounting cover 12 attached to the pickup body 2. As a result, the second circuit board 9 is arranged so as to be faced with the outside of the first circuit board by keeping a prescribed interval. The flexible printed-circuit board 10 is housed inside the interval.
