Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the treating function of each biological treating zone due to washing, to maintain a good treated water quality immediately after washing and also to enable the treatment of the org. waste water constantly with small variation of treating capacity. SOLUTION: In the biological filter device, the upper part of the biological treating tank provided with a filter layer 2 is used as a raw water inlet part 7. Its lower part is used as a treated water outlet part 6, and an air diffusing device 3 is arranged in the filter layer 2 and the filter material is arranged such that the specific gravity of the filter layer 2 becomes larger toward the lower part from the upper. In such a case, the arrangement set at first is rapidly returned even if the filter layer 2 is agitated at the washing stage, etc., and the arrangement in accordance with a microorganism growing environment is maintained by setting the specific gravity of the filter material of the filter layer 2 larger for the lower layer.
