Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce ghost images due to light leaking directly from an image source to a user's eyes in a head mounted type display using a reflecting optical image-formation means. SOLUTION: A 1st quarter-wave plate 104 and a 2nd quarter-wave plate 102 are arranged so that their actions are mutually reverse to each other. For example, assuming that the plate 104 gives a lag of π/2 to an interval between two polarized light components of an optical signal, the plate 102 gives a lag of -π/2 to the interval between them. Thus, even when the wavelength is somewhat deviated from design wavelength, small deviation from the π/2 phase difference is cancelled, a nearly exact difference of 90 deg. to the axis of polarization of a polarizing filter 106 is realized, and the light leaking directly from the image source 12 to the user's eyes is reduced. |
