PRODUCTION OF AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method reducing rolling patterns to the surface of a product as to a method for producing a thick plate using a continiously cast slab of austenitic stainless steel with care and cleaning for the slab obviated. SOLUTION: This is a method for producing austenitic stainless steel in which, at the time of producing a thick steel plate of >=6 mm thickness by subjecting an austenitic stainless steel continuous cast slab to hot rolling, solution heat treatment and pickling without executing care and cleaning, the concn. of oxygen at the time of the solution heat treatment after the hot rolling is controlled to =2.0, where the projecting density W: 50 to 300 kg/m2, the average diameter (d) of steel shots: 0.1 to 2.0 mm, and the concn. of oxygen at the time of the soln. heat treatment is defined as A(%).
