FIXING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance light irradiation efficiency of a medium for fixing a record while reducing the size by composing at least one recording medium carrying roller facing the recording layer of the recording medium of a material transparent to the light from an incorporated light source. SOLUTION: Carrying rollers 30, 40 constituting a fixing unit 20 in conjunction with a heat applying unit 50 are disposed oppositely at an interval suitable for carrying a medium 60 and the heat applying unit 50 is disposed at a specified position in the prestage of the rollers 30, 40. An arbitrary suitable heat applying unit 50, e.g. a thermal head, applies heat selectively to the medium 60 depending on the recording. The medium 60 is then fed to the poststage by means of the carrying rollers 30, 40 and the record on the medium 60 is fixed with light from a light source 30a built in the roller 30 when the medium 60 is carried. The roller 30 is made of a material transparent to the light for fixing the record on the medium 60 and such a light source 30a is built in the roller 30.
