Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas generating agent which does not substantially generate unfavorable gases such as nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and ammonia by blending ammonium nitrate, a metal nitride, an inorganic oxidizing agent and, optionally, a metal powder. SOLUTION: Ammonium nitrate, a metal nitride, an inorganic oxidizing agent and a metal powder are blended to prepare the objective gas generating composition. The inorganic oxidizing agent is preferably an inorganic nitrate. The metal nitride is preferably one or more of nitrides of boron, silicon and aluminum. Preferably the composition consists essentially of boron nitride and ammonium nitrate, optionally contains an oxidizing agent, other metal nitride or a metal powder and produces
