Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating the surface of a plastic substrate to form a metallic thin film on the substrate to provide the adhesive strength passing the UL standard and to furnish a coated plastic article. SOLUTION: Amorphous carbon is formed on a plastic substrate 2 by sputtering, vacuum deposition or ion plating or the like, by using a vacuum film forming device and then a film of chromium or titanium is formed. Further, a coating film of aluminum, copper or nickel is formed on the surface-treated substrate by sputtering or the like.
