Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain proper shapes of perforations and to enable execution of high-speed plate making for films having various sensitivities, without deteriorating a heating element. SOLUTION: A thermal head driving means 6 for impressing voltage on a heating element is equipped with a strobe preparing circuit 26 which generates pulses for impressing the voltage consecutively until the temperature of the heating element reaches the one in a temperature range suitable for perforation and then impressing the voltage intermittently so that the temperature in the aforesaid range be maintained for a time suitable for the perforation. When the strobe preparing circuit 26 receives a strobe start signal STRT, perforation data are latched in a latch circuit and a strobe signal/STB is turned ON. The strobe signal/STB is turned OFF when the time (t1) suitable for initial perforation is reached. Then, the thermal head driving means 6 outputs the strobe signal-/STB in a manner of (H→L) alternately until the number (N1) of times suitable for the perforation is reached, and pulse-drives the heating element.
