Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vulcanization accelerator usable without accompanying the risk of generating nitrosamine in the vulcanization of the rubber at all by including an arylguanidinium xanthate. SOLUTION: This vulcanization accelerator contains an arylguanidinium xanthate of formula I (R1 to R3 are each an aryl residue or H; n is 1-6, or when Y represents a monomer unit of a polymer, n is 2-20,000; Y is a hydrocarbon residue derived from a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol, or the like). The compound of formula I is preferably obtained by reacting an arylguanidinium salt (II) of formula II (A is Cl, SO4, PO4 or acetate; m is 1-3) with a salt of xanthogenic acid of formula III (B is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; m is 1 or 2; x is n/m).
