Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily purify waste water contg. such difficult-to-decompose materials as organohalogen agrochemicals and org. solvents under mild conditions in a shot time. SOLUTION: A cylindrical treating tank 1 is mounted on the rotating spindle 21 of a driving device 2 and rotated at 1-5 r.p.m. around its center axis. Innumerable photocatalyst particles 3, each formed by applying a coating consisting essentially of anatase-type titanium dioxide on a globular glass carrier, are placed in the tank, and further a rod-shaped UV lamp 4 is arranged to irradiate the photocatalyst particles 3 with light. Besides, an inlet pipe 11 for the water to be treated is furnished on one side of the tank 1 and a discharge pipe 12 on the other side, and the water to be treated is introduced into and discharged from the tank 1 at a specified flow rate.
