Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a hapten compound constituting an antigen for making a new monoclonal antibody reactive to isoprothiolane as a dithiolane-based rice blight-controlling agent. SOLUTION: This new compound is represented by formula I (R is a 1-5C alkyl; (n) is 1-15), e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound is obtained by the following steps: malonic acid is first reacted with an alcohol of the formula ROH in an organic solvent in the presence of a mineral acid or Lewis acid to effect esterification, the resulting malonic ester is then reacted with an ester compound of formula III (Z is a carboxyl-protecting group) to form the corresponding malonic diester derivative, which, in turn is reacted with carbon disulfide and a dihaloethane of the formula L1CH2CH2L2 (L1 and L2 are each a halogen) in an organic solvent in the presence of a base followed by eliminating the carboxyl-protecting group from the resulting product.
