PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an operator's work efficiency and restrict wasteful consumption of consumable parts by providing a stop means for temporarily stopping printing at a predetermined timing after the printing is started and a printing resume means for resuming the printing after the temporary stopping. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not printing resumption or printing stop is ordered from a host computer (S13). Without the order from the host computer, it is judged whether or not printing resumption or printing stop is ordered from an operation panel (S14). Without the order from the operation panel, it is judged whether or not a preliminarily set time has passed after the temporary stop (S15). If the time has not passed, the process returns to the step 13. On the other hand, if the preliminarily set time has passed after the temporary stop, sheets of a remaining number are output (S16), when the process is terminated. Meanwhile, if printing resumption is ordered at the step 13 or 14, sheets of the remaining number are output at a step 16. When printing stop is ordered, data of sheets of the remaining number is deleted (S17).
