ATM CELL MULTIPLEXING METHOD AND ITS SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the utilizing efficiency of a cell buffer in the ATM cell multiplexing method by which ATM system cells with different quality classes are multiplexed while satisfying requirement of each quality class. SOLUTION: Storage areas of one cell buffer 4 are managed by using a pointer management device 7. ATM cells with different quality classes are intermingled and stored in the cell buffer 4, and the ATM cells by each quality class are read from the cell buffer 4 based on pointers of the cell buffer 4 stored in each class buffer FIFO provided to a pointer buffer 8 by quality class.
