Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a residual component detecting mechanism by which the labor of a residual component detecting operation can be saved and by which the costs of the detecting operation can be lowered in a component housing member such as a palette or the like in which a plurality of electronic components are housed when the components are conveyed or inspected. SOLUTION: In a residual component detecting mechanism, light emitting parts 12 which are formed at a component housing member 11 are provided, and a light receiving sensor 14 which is installed at a suction handler 13 is provided. The light emitting parts 12 are formed at respective device housing parts 11a on the component housing member 11. Light from a light source 16 which is installed on the rear side of the component housing member 11 is transmitted to the surface side. The light receiving sensor 14 is moved due to the movement of the suction handler 13 which takes out respective devices 15, and it detects residual components in the respective device housing parts 11a. The light receiving sensor 14 can detect the existence of the devices 15 in a noncontact manner by whether beams of light from the light emitting parts 12 are blocked by the devices 15 or not. When the position of the light receiving sensor 14 is changed by the suction handler 13, it is possible to deal with the devices 15 on the component housing member 11 easily even when their positions are different due to the difference in the type of the devices 15.
