Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new triazolinone derivative useful as a herbicide exhibiting an excellent herbicidal effect at a low dosage without giving a phyrotoxicity to a crop such as rice. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 is a lower alkyl, a lower alkenyl, a lower alkynyl or the like; R2 is a lower alkyl, a lower cycloalkyl or the like; R3 is a five or six-membered unsaturated heterocyclic group; (n) is 0 or 1], for example, 4-[N-2,4-(difluorophenyl)-Nisopropylcarbamoyl]-2-[(4-methyl-1,2,3- triazol-5-yl)methyl]-1,2,4triazol-3-one. The above compound is obtained by reacting 1,2,4triazol-3-one of formula II with a carbamoyl chloride compound of formula III and subsequently reacting the obtained compound with a compound of the formula: R3-(CH2)n-X (X is a halogen).
