FIBER FORMED PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fiber formed product having good sound absorption and insulation properties and cushioning property, and suitable as an insertion for a sound-insulating material, a heat-insulating one and a cushioning one by subjecting bulk materials comprising fabric, monofilaments and yarns respectively in a granular state to partial binding to make them become a unity and to mold it. SOLUTION: This fiber formed product having 0.05-0.3 g/cc density and 5-300 mm thickness is produced by the following steps: (1) forming bulk materials prepared by subjecting fabric such as cloth, nonwoven fabric or the like to garnet abrasive machine treatment comprising >=5 wt.% granular fabric, >=50 wt.% granular monofilaments having 1-100 mm fiber length and 5-30 wt.% granular yarns in a blended state; (2) subjecting the bulk materials to needle punching treatment, water jet punching treatment or pref. partial welding treatment using a sheath-core type adhesive fiber to partially combine with one another and forming them into a preferred shape.
